Earth Sciences Foundation Inc. utilized Inframarker technology and HID RFID tags to improve their system of data records from field notebooks containing all of the information relating to the excavation and fossil preservation. Manual data entry on paper spreadsheets leaves the information collected prone to human error and separates the information gathered from the location of the fossil itself. Through combining InfraMarkers RFID marking products, Esri’s field mapping software and HID’s RFID tags, the field technician can easily tag separate fossils and log information regarding the fossil keeping all the information in the same place and the RFID tracking tag is fixed onto the bone to ensure traceability.
